Vanguard's bingo is down for 3 weeks and they are already asking for more donations. At what point does the state shut down start to negatively affect Vanguards and BDs operations? Do they rely on bingo so heavily that a several month shut down of bingo halls could throw these corps off track? Statement from VMPA March 22, 2020.
COVID-19 Update: Vanguard Bingo
Bingo is the flagship fundraiser of the SCV organization and provides a significant portion of operating revenues. The proceeds from the games are used to support the Vanguard, Vanguard Cadets, Winter Guard, Winter Percussion, and Community Dance programs, maintain the facilities, and keep the fleet running. As many of you may know, the Bay Area is under a strict “Shelter In Place” order for the coming weeks. Therefore, under the direction of the Santa Clara Health District, all Bingo operations in our area are forced to close due to the Coronavirus. This includes our Vanguard Bingo operations which provide a majority of financial support for our many performing programs. While we are saddened that our Vanguard Bingo community and our Bingo staff will not be with us for at least three weeks, as an organization, we remain 100% focused on the health and well-being of our Vanguard family. In these times of uncertainty, we could use your financial support more than ever!
